What's Up Wednesday

It's the last Wednesday of October (wait, what?) and I am linking up with Pinterest Told me To to share what's up around here...

What we're eating this week...

Trying to get back in the saddle again when it comes to healthy weeknight meals.  We had Fish Tacos tonight.  Yum!  You can read Monday Meal Planning for more of our weeknight meals.

What I'm reminiscing about...

Summer.  With all the craziness of baseball, homework, hockey, and just general racing around, I miss the laid back calm of the summer.

What I'm loving...

Captain America, which always comes out as "Aptain 'Merica."  This guy has been dressed up for most of the month of October.  I'll give you one guess who is the brains behind the operation.

What we've been up to...

I could not be more proud of Carson.  He stuck with three learn to skate classes, and is now so excited to have begun Hockey University!  After a little more training, he'll be ready to be placed on a team.  I admire his perseverance through the skating classes to get where he wants to be--on the ice, in a hockey uniform, playing the sport he loves!!!

Jonah pitched 7 innings in three days over the weekend and on Monday night.  Even though we ended up icing his arm before bed, I know it felt great that his team could count on him to pitch well.  I never get tired of watching his stance when he is on the pitcher's mound.  Maybe it's just because I'm his mom, but he looks like such a natural out there.  My heart still overflows with pride every time I watch Jonah play.

And even though we've been super busy, we've still carved out time to lay low and chill.  This has been (and will always be) one of my favorite things to do with my kids.  They sit at one end of the foyer, and I sit at the other, and I send them pieces by sliding them across the floor.  We started when Jonah was about Camden's age, and I am so happy they still enjoy it.

What I'm working on...

Well, I am happy to say that I finished both big boys ABC books in time for their birthdays!  It is a tradition that one of their birthday presents is an ABC book filled with pictures throughout the year.  Camden loves looking through their books and naming all his favorite people.  Before long, it will be time to start on his third ABC book.

What I'm excited about...

Fall.  There is so much I love about fall.  The cooler temps, pumpkins, apples, Halloween, Thanksgiving, boots, coffee, orange, yellow, red, the Turkey Bowl.
(Notice Camden's Phiten.  I'm pretty sure every two year old wears a baseball necklace to pick out pumpkins with mommy.)

What I'm reading...

I am very slowly making my way through the final book in The Giver series.  My friend Leah tells me I have to read book 4 to understand the whole plot, but it is kind of slow going.

I am also reading The Great Gilly Hopkins.  I lead Carson's reading group at school and I love the chance to read some books I never read as a kid.  I've only read one chapter of Gilly and I am already hooked!

What I'm listening to...

Country.  I used to listen to a lot of country in college and right after, and have kind of gotten away from it.  Something made me tune my car radio to the local country station and I have been wondering why I ever stopped listening.  There is just something so relaxing and uplifting about country music.

What I'm wearing...

I can't get enough of these camoflage pants lately.  Or the pictures we took when we went to NJ for my grandmother's memorial service.  Knowing it may have been our last time visiting her house (they are going to put it on the market soon) was so emotional for all of us.  Emily and I got lots of pictures and my dad took a video throughout her house.  We spent so much time there growing up and there are so many memories there.  I have a post in the works about my grandmother.  She is missed.

What I'm doing this weekend...

Why, watching baseball and hockey of course!  Justin's parents are coming this weekend so we are all looking forward to spending time with them as well.  We always have a great time hanging out.

What I'm looking forward to next month...

The Fifth Annual Turkey Bowl and...

16 years of wedded bliss to this guy.

What else is new?

Have you checked out my blogs over at PetPartners.com?  I am so excited to be blogging for them.  Be sure to check out the blog this week to see a cute Halloween slideshow I put together.  You just may see your dog! :)

Happy Wednesday, friends!!!

    1. Thank you, Pinky! I checked out your blog--I like it! Will add to my reading list. Kind of jealous of all the sports playing. My kids are the only ones getting any action over here, and I miss being on a team. :) Happy Halloween!

    3. Thanks for letting me know, Pinky. :) I checked out her blog post, but when it said to check and see if I am a no-reply blogger, it appeared that I am not. Does that make sense? Will have to look into it further. Have a great day!!! :)
