WIWW--Summer to Fall

Every year around this time, I get so excited about the change of seasons.  Not only am I ready to enjoy a meal on our covered porch without sweating, but I am also ready for a wardrobe change.  I am sick of my shorts, over my flip flops, and ready for the layers and boots that speak the language of fall.

But at this time of year, I also have issues figuring out just what to put on in the morning.  Pants or shorts?  Flats or boots?  Leggings or jeans?  So I am forced to come up with outfits that can transition well.  And there are some items to which I am just not ready to say goodbye, so I have to find a way to make them work for the fall.

Here is an outfit I have been loving this summer.  It is so comfortable and easy.  The maxi was a steal, and with the right jewelry, I feel like I can  dress it up.

The back is my favorite.

Here's a better picture of the necklace.  I actually got mine last December at Scout and Molly's in Raleigh.  I noticed recently that Sheaffer from Pinterest Told Me To was featuring the same necklace, from Nordstrom.  The only difference is Nordstrom offers all silver or all gold.  Mine has both.  Apparently it is one of a kind.  Sorry, you'll just have to pick one or the other. :)

Since I'm not ready to hang this little number in the back of my closet, I imagined it with a denim jacket and boots, and then I gave it a whirl.

I can't remember where we got my cowboy boots--I've had them forever!

Do you recognize the bag?  It's the same one from the first few pictures.  It's reversible!!!  I first saw this tote on one of my favorite blogs, Sunny Side Up.  Erin raved about it on one of her Friday Favorite's posts, and since I have been looking for an affordable cognac bag for a while, I ordered it.  The mint interior and coordinating wristlet really made this bag work for me.  I love big bags, but feel like my lipstick always gets lost in the depths.  Now I just stick it in the zippered pouch and I know where it is!

Do you have a summer outfit that you can make work for fall?  I'd love to hear about it.

And I just have to share one more picture.  My favorite from this day.

I love my big preschooler.  But I sure am glad he doesn't have to go to preschool tomorrow.
Baby steps.

Don't forget to check out yesterday's Finding Fall post for fall decorating inspiration!  I was excited to link up with some of my favorite bloggers I met at Haven to do a fall roundup.  Please stay awhile and link up your favorite fall projects as well!  I love getting inspiration from other people's projects.
