Why I Wore What I Wore Wednesday...I Will Never Be That Mom

Why I Wore What I Wore Wednesday...and Why I Will Never Be That Mom

I wanted to do a WIWW post this week, but as I looked back through my pictures from the last few weeks, this is what I found.

...Krispie Kreme hats...

because we were continuing the tradition, started in 2006, of stopping for Krispie Kreme doughnuts on the way home from the beach.

...reading in our PJs...

because Camden wanted to read first thing in the morning.

...winter clothes in the heat of summer...

because my Carson wants to be a hockey player.  So, once or twice a week, we dress in long sleeves and long pants, and hit the ice!

...weird posed throwing pictures...

because Jonah was helping me with my form.  That boy throws so effortlessly, and I'm trying to learn how he does it!  I love playing catch with him, and am so lucky to have him as my personal coach.

...a post-workout picture...

for my momsanity sisters of course!  I love that we can keep each other accountable by posting healthy meals, workouts pics, parenting advice, and encouragement.  I was so excited to have squeezed in a workout on vacation!

As I looked as these pictures, I realized this is me.  When Camden wants to read on the floor, I want to be wearing comfy enough clothes that I can plop down next to him.

When Carson wants to learn how to skate, I want to be willing to pull on a pair of ice skates and do it with him.

When Jonah wants to play catch, I want to be agile enough to head out the door to throw the ball in the yard.

People sometimes ask me how I stay fit, and my answer is always, "I don't have a choice!  I'm keeping up with three little boys!"

And that's how it should be.

I'm also teaching them good habits.

The importance of sticking with something.

That we're never, ever too old to learn new tricks.

And that it's vital to belong to a community of encouragers.

I was envying a mom who was quietly reading her book while her skater did laps around the rink the other day.  That feeling of envy lasted about a half of a second, before I realized I will never be that mom.  And I'm quite ok with that.  It keeps me young.  It keeps me fit.  It keeps me happy.

Why do you wear what you wear?

I'm linking up with The Pleated Poppy today.  Check out her awesome WIWW and the others who have linked up.  I promise, you will be inspired!
